Is it normal if my xbox scratches my disc?

It isn't the rings, just small scratches you can only really see when light is glaring on the disc. Is my xbox defective or is this common for an xbox? BTW i have an xbox slim and I never pick it up while I use it. And can theses little scratches be fixed with skip dr or something?
